The point is that BedZed shows it can be done. It works, people are happy there, you can square the circle of development and sustainability and have a worthwhile capital investment. A successor has just been announced for a waste site west of London, which is an encouraging follow-up. But there need to be many more. Because the whole housebuilding industry should be looking at this prototype and seeing what it can learn from it. It's not just desirable. It's vital.
